Chase Bethea is an award-winning video game composer and technical audio designer based in Los Angeles. Known for his dynamic and emotionally immersive soundtracks, Chase brings a signature fusion of texture and complexity to every project—drawing players deeper into the gaming experience.
His work spans a wide range of styles and platforms. His soundtrack for Cubic Climber earned a “Noteworthy” from Destructoid, and in 2016, his score for I Can’t Escape: Darkness led to a nomination for Artist of the Year – Independent Composer by Video Game Music Online (VGMO). In 2021, Chase took home an award from the NYX Game Awards for his work on the Aground soundtrack. He also scored Aztec Ride, an addictive mobile game released on Google Play in 2020, which was nominated for a Pocket Gamer Mobile Award.
Chase is also a respected voice in the industry. He’s been featured on popular podcasts like Level with Emily, The Sound Architect, Pixelated Audio, and Sound of Play. Since 2015, he has spoken at over 30 conferences and events—including PAX, MAGWest, GameSoundCon, ADC, and Berklee College of Music—sharing his expertise and passion with the next generation of audio professionals. In 2022, Chase was appointed Chair of the IASIG Steering Committee, a recognition by peers and leaders in interactive audio.
When he's not composing, Chase is an avid collector and restorer of retro games and systems. His personal archive includes more than 800 physical games, which he regularly explores for research, nostalgia, and creative inspiration.
