"I’ve been a customer of Q Up Arts since the 1990s. California Keys is a wonderful bundle that will make many composers and producers very happy!" – Leo Z

Leo Z is an acclaimed Italian producer, composer, and keyboardist based in Los Angeles. With a career that bridges European classical roots and modern cinematic production, Leo is known for his elegant arrangements, emotionally driven scores, and seamless fusion of genres.

Born and raised in Bologna, Italy, Leo began composing music at the age of four, experimenting on his family’s old German upright piano. His Italian and Russian heritage, combined with the rich cultural atmosphere of his medieval hometown, helped shape his diverse musical voice—blending symphonic, electronic, progressive, and minimal elements.

At age 23, under the mentorship of legendary Italian producer Mauro Malavasi, Leo launched his professional career, arranging and producing songs for Italian pop stars such as Elisa and Lucio Dalla. Even as his career in pop music expanded, his passion for film scores continued to grow, inspired by composers like Thomas Newman and Elliot Goldenthal.

Leo’s work with crossover artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban brought international recognition. His song “Oceano” was featured on Groban’s multi-platinum album Closer, which sold over 8 million copies worldwide. In 2007, Leo moved to Los Angeles to fully pursue his dream of composing for film and television.

Since relocating to L.A., which he describes as “a surreal place where anything is possible,” Leo has developed numerous high-profile projects. He produced the debut album for Disney-signed crossover tenor Nathan Pacheco, recorded at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles and Air Studios Lyndhurst in London with the London Philharmonia Orchestra and legendary engineer Geoff Foster. The album was mixed by Michael Brauer at Electric Lady Studios in New York and marked collaborations with A&R legend Jon Lind and Leo’s longtime mentor Bob Cavallo.

In 2012, Leo co-scored Tom Hanks’ futuristic web series Electric City alongside composer Ali Noori, with supervision by producers Josh Feldman and Bo Stevenson and music supervision by Deva Anderson. The series was released by Yahoo and showcased Leo’s ability to blend cinematic storytelling with forward-thinking sound design.

With a growing body of work across genres and mediums, Leo Z continues to define his place at the intersection of classical sophistication and modern production.
