Godwin String Concert

Smooth, warm, and shimmering, the Godwin String Concert is a vintage analog string synthesizer with a sound all its own. Unlike many of its contemporaries, the Godwin offered a true polyphonic synthesis engine, with an envelope per note, giving it a depth and expressiveness rare for its era.

Its design allowed you to blend cello, viola, and violin sections for authentic string-orchestra textures, enhanced by a treble filter for silky highs and a bass boost/cut to warm up the low end. The result: a pure, soaring string tone that feels airy and alive, yet never clutters the mix.

Where the Logan String Melody was lush and heavy, the Godwin is smoother and sweeter. Add in the Tremolo and Chorus controls, and the instrument comes alive with evolving movement and dimensional warmth. The Chorus is rich without being muddy, while the Tremolo layers multiple LFOs at different speeds for a complex, organic shimmer — yielding a sound many rank above even the famed Solina.

Our version faithfully captures this character, but also adds a few modern touches:

  • Sampled Vintage Chorus for authentic tone

  • Modern stereo chorus for added width and depth

  • Velocity sensitivity for expressive dynamics

With these tools, you can shape anything from delicate, shimmering string sections to Pink Floyd-style vintage pads and silky analog soundscapes.
