Inspired by the experimental soundscapes of 70s pioneers like Brian Eno, Rhythmic Robot's Loopscape is a synthesizer built on the beauty of imperfection. It creates endlessly evolving sonic textures from raw waveforms recorded onto real tape loops, complete with the warmth, hiss, and wobble of vintage machines.

This is the sound of science meeting art: classic analog synthesis printed to oxide and replayed across tape heads from the past.

The Concept

Loopscape takes its cue from the tape-loop experiments of the 60s and 70s, where overlapping loops of different lengths generated soundscapes that evolved infinitely without repeating. Using the same principles, Loopscape transforms six classic waveforms — Sawtooth, Triangle, Square, Sine, Noise — into living, breathing tones.

The Process

Instead of clean studio decks, we deliberately used cranky old tape machines to capture wow, flutter, hiss, and print-through. Every imperfection became part of the instrument’s voice. The results were re-recorded at 24-bit quality, preserving all their character.

Each waveform is available at eight prime-numbered loop lengths (½, ⅔, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, and 17 seconds). Prime numbers ensure loops cycle against each other in endlessly shifting combinations, producing evolving soundscapes that are virtually impossible to repeat.

The Sound

From heartbeat-short pulses to minute-long evolving textures, Loopscape is capable of shimmering ambience, dark drones, rhythmic loops, and infinite sound beds. It’s warm, imperfect, alive — and endlessly inspiring.
